Trying to keep the momentum of painting on the weekends and after work. I liked how this one turned out though took me a few passes.
March Painting Continues!
From the Saturday sessions with Atelier Dojo here in Austin via Zoom. Really like the color more on this one which has always been a weaker point of mine.
March Update
Been trying to keep up the consistency on the portraits even if it’s knocking out a sketch when paints aren’t in reach. A couple painting and sketches from this month.
Painting during a snowstorm. In Austin.
With bursting pipes and fussy furnaces during Austin’s February snowstorm, working on this painting took my mind off the fact I could see my breath indoors.
February + Ponytails…
Kicking off February with a new painting from Atelier Dojo’s Saturday morning open studio. Great way to spend a weekend morning for about what a cup of coffee costs these days.
More January paintings.
Continuing a pretty good streak of painting once a week. Struggled a little bit on getting the colors down on both but really liked how they turned out in the end.
Kicking Off 2021
Not quite a resolution but more of what my friend calls “intentions”. Really it’s just refocusing on finding time to paint. All from three remote studios on Saturday mornings at Atelier Dojo here in Austin.
Austin Studio Tour 2020
I’m excited to participate in my second year in the Austin Studio Tour! Both online and with an outdoor experience. Check out the Austin Studio Tour for all the details.
With this website, I have managed to round up a good portion of my work and placed them into three different groups – each with a different style:
Oil Portraits: I’ve always been fascinated by how different artists approach each subject. Over the last couple of years I’ve been trying to learn the different techniques and develop my own style .
Sketches: These represent pictures or people I seen that I think capture a moment. I do really like the high risk, high reward of pen on ink with little room for error. Or at least a clever way to cover up mistakes.
Doodles: I’m not sure where these come from. I really don’t. But I do like them.
You can find each section in the menu above. I did whip this website up in the last few days so forgive any parts that seem a little clunky.
