It was a hot one and managed to spend the height of the hotter weekend days inside painting trying different techniques on this series of portraits.
I really liked the vibrant colors of this one. It’s a lot of detail for me and my attention span so it feels a little daunting in the beginning.
I took a few pictures from a trip to Mexico and wanted to paint them to capture a little of the town’s vibe. Hoping to do 3 paintings from my visit.

These were painted from scenes at Washington Square Park in New York. People enjoying the weather on a sunny day in October. There are 4 here but looking to continue the series at least for a couple more paintings.
I tried something a little different here with starting with a black outline. I think I was told once that you should never use black but went with it none-the-less. I liked how the figure turned out.
Trying to keep up a regular routine on painting and sketching. It’s slipped a little as summer began but East Austin Studio Tour helps establish a goal.
Tried to focus a little more on the figures this month instead of just the face which I found added a layer of challenge in getting everything positioned and composed.
